Alice Kabagire Cyusa

Co-Founder

Alice is a recent survivor of acute promyelocytic leukemia. Her life experiences moved her to found - together with Dr Bufill - the Komera Foundation. She is past President of the Rwandan Diaspora Global Network. During her tenure, the organization experienced remarkable worldwide growth. While in the US, she also promoted Rwandan culture among young people, organizing classes in traditional dance and traditional sports activities. Alice currently serves as a community leader and as business manager at the Cancer Society of Saint Joseph County in northwest Indiana. She holds a Master of Science in Economics from the Economic University of Odessa, in the Ukraine.

Jose A. Bufill

Co-Founder

Dr. Bufill is a medical oncologist with 30 years experience caring for patients with hematologic and solid tumors. He has a professional interest in inherited cancer syndromes and was instrumental in the development of Progeny Genetics Software.

He has published numerous articles in the field of cancer genetics, and has been active in promoting educational initiatives and programs at the medical school and post-graduate levels. He considers himself yet another victim of "Hurricane Alice"!

Stephen Rulisa

Dean
University of Rwanda School of Medicine

Dr Rulisa is an obstetrician-gynecologist, widely published in the field of epidemiology, public health and health systems management. He also holds a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam where he developed optimal management protocols for the treatment of malaria in pregnant women. He has a passion for medical education as a means of improving health outcomes in Rwanda. Stephen enjoys active collaborations with academic colleagues in Europe, Canada and the US.

Solange Nduhura

Nurse Practitioner

Solange has a decade of experience working with the sick in a variety of nursing environments, including critical care, surgical and oncology units. She holds several degrees from Indiana University including a Master of Science in Nursing. Her research efforts have centered on anxiety disorders in adolescents, She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Her passion is to promote health care in her native Rwanda.
